The flowers are beginning to
bloom along the highway:
Yellow &
Orange Hawkweed,
Lupine, Winter Cress,
Buttercups and
Mertensia.
Mountain Ash, both in town
and Wild ones are at their peak
along with the Lilacs and
Red Osier Dogwood.
We were not able in previous
weeks to visit the bog on the
Lima Mt Road because of
washouts. Bs daughter said that
most of the flowers we were
looking for were at The Fen, off
the Ski Hill Road so we went
there. We did see
Bog Laurel, lots of
Labrador Tea,
Bog Rosemary,
Cranberry,
Calla Lilies,
Starflowers,
Wild Lily-of-the-Valley,
Strawberry,
Blue-eyed grass,
Violets, both blue and
yellow,
Bunchberries,
Wild Roses and a few
Iris. It was hot and we were
troubled by the DEER FLIES. This
may be the last time B & I go
there it was exhausting !!!
After that Forced March we
went to Pit Lake off Trestle
Pine Road and saw the Pitcher
Plants blooming and
Bog Buckbean, Yellow Pond
Lilies, Douglas Honeysuckle and
one Upright Bindweed.
Lunch at Two Island
Campground boat landing in the
car so we were sure to be out of
the bugs We were exhausted !!
