This was a short day - Lorraine had to go to Two Harbors for an appointment. We had our coffee at the Hovland dock instead of at one of our homes. The day was lovely. We were invited to visit a Oriental type garden and modern home. It was lovely - somewhat magic as we entered. On the way we stopped at the flower garden at the Hovland Post Office. The newly formed garden club has done a remarkable job. There was a short Rudbeckia that I would like to learn more about.
We have such a short growing season it seems like when the spring flowers are done it takes but a little time and the flowers of later summer and early fall are blooming: Goldenrod, St. Johnswort, Canada Thistle, the Dock is turning brown, Sow Thistle, Tansy, Butter & Eggs, Black-eyed Susan, & Yarrow.
Grasses are being used more in our gardens and we can enjoy the many varieties of grasses just as we travel along the roadsides.
We heard that the Ringo Road has been improved and is now a good road - it's been years since we were there. That will be on our must do list.
