June 27th, 2001 - Report by Lorraine A. Anderson

I finally got my wish and went to Alfred's Pond on the Superior Hiking Trail between the Sugar Loaf Road and Cook County #1.  It was 5.4 miles and took us 5 hours and at our age we felt very good about that.  In Alfred's Pond there is a floating boardwalk over a bog with many special bog plants.  We also saw hundreds of Blue Flag Iris on the "Iris Road" (The Grade) and at Pit Lake.  What wonderful days!
