| From Minneapolis to Grand Marais:
Take Interstate 35 north from the Twin Cities approximately 143 miles to Duluth. Follow Highway 61 the remaining 110 miles along Lake Superior to Grand Marais. The Gunflint Trail can be accessed from Grand Marais. From Minneapolis to Ely: Take Interstate 35 north from the Twin Cities approximately 143 miles to Duluth. Follow Highway 53 northwest into the Iron Range. Shortly after Virginia, take 169 north to Ely (approximately 75 miles from Duluth). The Fernberg Road and the Echo Trail can be accessed from Ely. |
