Black Bear Hunting

Photo by Lynn Rogers (used with permission)

Yes, hunting is allowed in the Boundary Waters.  As with canoeing, permits are required in the BWCA.  The challenge as well, for bear hunting, is the fact that motors, wheeled transportation devices, and machinery is not allowed in the BWCA.  This makes a challenge for hauling the bear out and keeping it cool enough to stay fresh.  Hunting in the BWCA is not recommended except for experienced hunters with with past Boundary Waters experience.
